Chatter about Google Plus

Posted July 17, 2011 by The Candace B in Featured

Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of chatter about the addition of Google+ (Google Plus) to the social media world. many people are wondering about what it means for Facebook and Twitter? How to carve out another 4 hours a day to get addicted to something else? How much more can your life become an open book?

The answer is, a lot more.

In the world of social media, there is always room for more. According to an article posted in Mashable, we have tripled the time we spend on social media since this time last year. That is why Plus is the perfect addition to the social media landscape – because we crave to be social and at the same time we are also carving new ways to experience each other together.

However, just being is the new kid on the block with a lot of advertising dollars to spend to get the word out is not enough. It also matters that a new social media platform provide 5 main things:

  1. Be cool
  2. Fills a gap not filled by other social media platforms
  3. Provides a unique yet easy to use  features
  4. Provides an enriching experience to our lives.
  5. Has a familiarity in the platform to aid in easy adaption.  (oddly enough be unique yet easy to figure out because we all know that we do not want to think about how to use it. Read up on Don’t Make Me Think designing and usability)

And Plus does that, it allows us to share, more creatively than Bing has hoped to do. And we can share everything, from our presences for article, locations and pretty much anything that already comes up in a Google search. So the question is will you join in on the fun, will you get into the Google Plus game….. My guess is you will. i already have 18 Circles, tons of friend and I plan on hanging out more (virtually of course). Don’t know what I mean… check out this video on about the hangouts and explore the Google Plus world. … and of course let me know what you think.
